We must pay more careful attention, therefore, to what we have heard, so that we do not drift away. - Hebrews 2:1
We all have probably heard news stories about people that are classified as 'drifters' or seemingly those with no purpose or home that wander from place to place. In our spiritual life we could easily fall into the trap or 'drifting' or complacency by ignoring God's word. By ignoring I mean not ever picking it up except maybe to carry with you as a prop on Sunday.
God's word is so full of truth to get you through the day. Rushing about each day and spending time watching the morning news is not going to strengthen your spirit. The more you get away from the word of God the easier it becomes to 'drift' away. After a while you find yourself acting like those in the world and getting sucked into the system of the world. Why not try this week to develop a good habit of scheduling Bible time in your day. Do it before you get caught up with everything else. Go in your closet if you have to. Don't allow the things of the world to become more important than God.PRAYER: Father I need you in my life 24/7. At times I have allowed busyness to squeeze you out or maybe my to do list becomes more important. Give me wisdom to make a schedule where you are first place so I do not become a drifter. In Jesus' name. Amen.
