TEN YEARS

11 September 2001 most Americans remember exactly where they were and what they were doing when early that day 4 separate commercial jets crashed first into World Trade Centers twin towers then the Pentagon and finally a field in Pennsylvania. There was speculation, until all aircraft were grounded, that more hijacked jets were targeting other sites such as the White House or the U.S. Capitol. Millions stayed glued to news reports on television and radio. What was happening? America was under attack on our own soil the first time since Pearl Harbor in 1941. Life as we knew it had changed forever. Our way of life had been drastically altered. Evil had infiltrated our country and killed thousands of innocent citizens. Secretaries, children, firemen, store clerks, corporate executives, bankers and many others were seemingly vaporized as the towers, in mere seconds, came plummeting to the ground. Prior to that, there was the  graphic horrific scene of people above the 83rd floor hanging out windows and leaping to their death onto the street below. Never before had most people witnessed anything so shocking. Buildings close by the World Trade Center were also damaged such as a Marriot Hotel next to the towers.

Who would do this and why? We know our country has enemies as we are a free nation and men who do not enjoy this freedom try to disable us and destroy our way of life. We are unique too in that we are founded as a distinctly Christian nation although  there have always been those trying to dispute this fact or change that and make the First amendment to our Constitution seemingly against freedom of religion when in fact it was created to protect religion from the government.

Americans had been disinterested and 'asleep' at the wheel. Gradually anything to do with Christianity or morality was slowly attacked and outlawed by the government. The Bible was not the centerpiece anymore and in the name of tolerance sin crept in. There were problems but people, to include churches, just sat back and let things happen. So here we were 11 September 2001 putting out a 9-1-1 call to save our land. For the first time Americans of all nationalities, ages, skin color, economic level and backgrounds, Republican and Democrat came together and on 12 September 2001 there was a unique cohesion which was as a result of the tragedy that had unfolded. American flags sold out everywhere. Patriotism was alive and well. But, like the frog in the pot of boiling water, slowly we have let our guard down and once again are under danger of being attacked on our own soil. Fort Hood, Texas, an extremely  secure military base, was case in point when a Muslim soldier, who took an oath which meant nothing to him, attacked and killed his fellow soldiers. We should wake up and realize we have enemies within our own ranks purposely lying and infiltrating our way of life to destroy us and take us down.

We are to love our enemies and pray for them  but also be wise about evil forces in our land trying to destroy us.  Psalm 109:1-13 is good to read when you have a moment. Psalm 35:4 says "Let those be ashamed and dishonored who seek my life .Let those be turned back and humiliated who devise evil against me."

Prayer is vitally important in the healing of this land. 2 Chronicles 7:14 says "and My people who are called by My name humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, will forgive their sin and will heal their land." America it is time to listen to God for a change, stop ignoring Him and give Him first place in your life.

PRAYER: Father be with the many families whose lives were drastically affected by the deaths of their family members and friends in the horrible attacks on America on 9-11-01. Father we seek healing for scars and wounds from this day. Many good things grew from the ashes of this day but still many lives were shattered. We ask that you comfort as only you can. We ask father that you wake up the citizens of this land to be aware and alert to danger within our own borders. Help us not fall asleep when danger is lurking at the door. In Jesus name, amen.
