NEW BEGINNINGS

Life is a series of beginnings and endings, hellos and goodbyes, new jobs, births and deaths, new things and old things. Being a military wife I have had my share of new beginnings. It is hard to say goodbye to close friends you have made but God has always got new blessings in store in your new home. It is something to look forward to instead of dreading.

New beginnings are also a time to try new things. When my "nest' became empty when our sons headed off to college a few years ago I tried new things. It is  not only  the time for a possible new job that has been put on hold but also trying new hobbies and things you wanted to do.I tried violin lessons and also the Rocket City Rowing Club among other things. You can take classes or develop hidden talents.There are many things out there to do in a 'new beginning' world.

In God's word in Isaiah 43:19 it says "See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the desert and streams in the wasteland." Also for anyone who dreads change you know it is part of God's plan to mold you more into his character and for His purposes. Exodus 23:20 is a great verse for new beginnings and it reads "See, I am sending an angel ahead of you to guard you along the way and to bring you to the place I have prepared." Isaiah 41:10 says "So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand."

Change and new beginnings are part of life. Accept them and move on or fight them and have anguish and turmoil. God can help you adjust to whatever it is you face. Embrace change. When I was a single young woman living in California the poster I had up on my apartment wall was Ephesians 3:20 and it says "Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us". I often think of Lot's wife and how she looked back and turned into a pillar of salt(See Genesis 19:26). I sure do not want to turn into salt, do you? God can do more than we think or imagine. Get out of the way and let Him! Enjoy the journey!

PRAYER: Lord I know you hold the future in your hands. Each day is a new fresh start. We are to look forward, not behind. Thank you for the new things you have in store for me. In Jesus Name. Amen!

  1. Thanks Becky! Lately, I'm looking back more than I should! My kids are grown, and my parents are getting older....it's hard for me not to look back and "remember when..." Your words encouraged me so much today!!
