FEARFUL?

Lots of things in life can make us scared. I know I have been in a few situations and I am sure all of us has that can release tremendous fear if we do not lean on the Lord to help get us through. Financial problems, fear of dying or being killed in a crash, work problems, unplanned pregnancy, waiting on grades, waiting on job offers, being involved in a law suit, and you can probably add to this small list of things that can cause fear. We are to give our worries to Jesus and let him carry them. Wow now that is easier said than done. But you release this issue, whatever it is to God.

In 1 Peter 5:7 it tells us to " Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you." The Lord can deliver you from whatever it is. Or he can sustain you while you deal with an ordeal as you learn and grow in the process.  One of my favorite verses is 2 Timothy 1:7 where it says, " for God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control." Fear is definitely not from God and is not a fruit of the spirit. It is the enemy trying to steal your joy and get your focus off the Lord. If you are constantly worried and fretting is is pretty difficult to be thinking of Jesus.

Psalm 3:6 says '" I will not fear the tens of thousands drawn up against me on every side." No matter what it is turn to the Lord. He is there to help you. Remember the word is 'through' meaning you will not stay there forever. There is hope. Psalm 118:6 is another good one if worried about humans doing something to you and it says, " The LORD is with me; I will not be afraid. What can man do to me?" God is bigger than your problem. Just keep that in mind. Keep saying these verses out loud. Believe me it helps. Psalm 23:4 says " Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me." We often hear that typically at a funeral but it has much to say to the living as well. Focus on God and not your problem. Be blessed.

PRAYER: Father comfort those people who are worried about something in their life. Help them lean on you and your word to get through the situation they may be faced with. Calm their hearts and help them to spiritually breathe out the fear and breathe in peace. In Jesus Name. Amen.

  1. When you refer to the word "through," were you referring to Psalm 23:4?
